The J1ART Story

Jawunn Bailey established J1ART LLC in April of 2021 and currently resides in Middletown, Ohio. Jawunn says, ”J1ART is Jesus centered first and foremost.” Jawunn was inspired by his maternal grandmother, Mary Lue Smith, who was born and raised in Gary, Indiana. At an early age, Jawunn watched how she operated, making trendy clothes for locals and making her brilliant ideas to come life in her basement. Taking the same approach, Jawunn started J1ART in his basement. While playing basketball at Clark State Community College, Jawunn took an art class that re-ignited his love for art. Jawunn brings to fruition his art through fashion, painting, media, murals, and whatever he has the desire to create.

Jawunn’s mother, Patricia Bailey, continues to be a great motivator and collaborator in J1ART. Patricia, or Mrs. Pat, has been inspired by her son by learning how to create abstract art and help lead Painting with J1ART. Mrs. Pat worked with children throughout her career and one day at the dinner table, Jawunn asked his mother a curious question. “What do you want to do in life?" She answered, “Work with all walks of the world (children, people at church, the elderly living in nursing homes, etc.) and show them how to paint.” And that’s how Painting with J1ART came to be in September of 2021. Jawunn attributes his drive for creation to his mother, saying her vision for Painting with J1ART inspired him.
